Norwich City fell to defeat at home in the Sky Bet Championship, losing 1-0 against West Bromwich Albion.
It took until nearly the 20-minute mark for the first real chance of the game as Josh Sargent saw an effort blocked.
And moments later down the other end, West Brom would take the lead through Josh Maja.
The Canaries went in search of a quick response and nearly found one as Oscar Schwartau and Emiliano Marcondes combined well, with the latter's shot being palmed away by Josh Griffiths.
Harry Darling also saw an opportunity go close, but the defender couldn't keep his effort down as it went over the crossbar.
In the second half, Marcondes forced Griffiths into a smart stop down low as the West Brom goalkeeper denied the Dane from a free-kick.
Matěj Jurásek's crossed free-kick was met by Darling, with his header bouncing just wide of the post.
Late on, Lucien Mahovo made his return from injury as he replaced Kellen Fisher.
The 20-year-old made an instant impact, whipping a cross into Jovon Makama who saw his header saved fantastically by Griffiths.
From a corner, José Córdoba came the closest to an equaliser as his volley was cleared off the line by a West Brom defender.
The West Brom goalkeeper produced another remarkable save to deny Ante Crnac from close range, before Jurásek fired over from the rebound.
West Brom would hold on and claim all three points as Norwich's search for a first home win of the season continued.
The Canaries are back in action midday on Sunday, October 5, as they travel away to Ipswich Town.
