Flood warnings in place for Norfolk and Suffolk

Following Storm Amy there are flood warnings issued for rivers and coastal areas in Norfolk and Suffolk. The Environment Agency (EA) said flooding to businesses and homes was likely along the River Waveney, the River Yare and at Southwold on Sunday.

An EA spokesperson said its teams were out checking flood defences, adding: "Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected."

The EA issued its flood warnings, external for:

  • The River Yare between Norwich and Great Yarmouth for 24 hours from 05:45 BST. Areas most at risk included Cantley, Ferry Road at Reedham, the A47 and the railway line between Reedham and Brundall
  • The River Waveney near Lowestoft for 24 hours from 05:15. Areas most at risk included St Olaves, Somerleyton, Burgh St Peter, Oulton Broad and Beccles
  • The coast at Southwold for 06:00-10:00. Areas deemed most at risk included Southwold Harbour, Ferry Road and the bottom of Queens Road
  • The A12 at Bluthburgh for 06:00-10:00. Minor flooding was also expected at coastal roads and footpaths
