Match Report | Wrexham 1-2 Norwich City

Norwich City claimed a 2-1 win away to Wrexham at the SToK Cae Ras in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ali Ahmed was named in Philippe Clement's starting line-up, making his Norwich debut after his move from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps earlier this month. Papa Amadou Diallo made his return from injury for a place on the bench.

And it was Ahmed who would create the opening goal. The Canadian international broke forward and found Anis Ben Slimane in the area, who fired in to open the scoring.

Moments later, Ahmed nearly made it two as his curled effort struck the crossbar before bouncing clear.

Josh Windass got on the end of a cross for the home side, but the Wrexham attacker couldn't get his effort on target.

Moments later, Wrexham were level. Max Cleworth's cross was met by Sam Smith, with his header finding the bottom corner.

After a delay to the game in the second half due to a medical emergency in the crowd, Jovon Makama nearly put Norwich ahead but a late challenge did enough to put him off and deflect the shot into the Wrexham goalkeeper.

Just before the hour mark, Norwich were back ahead. A superb counter-attack saw Kenny McLean find Makama, who fired in to find the bottom corner.

Oscar Schwartau later set up Makama, who could've added a third but the Norwich striker was off balance as he fired over.

Vladan Kovačević then made a fantastic save, denying Nathan Broadhead from close range.

The Canaries are on their travels once again during the week, as they face West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.
