Repairs costing a quarter of a million pounds have been approved for Cromer Pier after engineers warned parts of the structure are deteriorating.
A full structural survey found defects in beams, bracing and columns at the greatly listed landmark.
North Norfolk District Council says the pier remains safe with work planned for January and February to minimise disruption.
