Woman charged with attempting to cause explosions

A Norwich woman has been charged with attempting to cause explosions at several public buildings and restaurants.

49-year-old Martha Goddard is accused of targeting two Starbucks branches, a McDonald's, the city's Millennium Library, and a transmission station in incidents between March and September.

Prosecutors say improvised incendiary devices were used. She also faces a charge of making or keeping explosive substances at her home.

Goddard remains in custody and is due at the Old Bailey in February.
