Plans to install floating pontoons at Heigham Sound on the Norfolk Broads have been scrapped after more than 100 objections.
The Broads Authority says it has listened to concerns that the pontoons would narrow the channel and cut mooring space by half, affecting boaters and hire firms.
The Authority has now withdrawn its planning application and will explore alternative, more affordable options to replace ageing steel piling.
