Norwich airport bosses asses risks of new homes

Airport bosses in Norwich say they want assurances that plans for nearly 4,000 new homes won't increase the risk of aircraft being hit by birds.

Developer Taylor Wimpy is seeking permission for 3,850 properties at Rackheath.

The airport has warned the layout must avoid attracting gulls, pigeons or starlings.

It says landscaping needs to be designed carefully to prevent a rise in bird strike danger. Broadland Council will decide the plans at a later date.
