People in Hemsby have been told the erosion eating away at their coastline can't be stopped.
Around 200 residents heard from Great Yarmouth Council that seabed changes are dragging the beach down, putting homes at risk.
More than 25 properties have already been lost. Officials say any defences would cost millions and only by time.
