Former soldier has been fined for assaulting a journalist

A former soldier has been fined for assaulting a journalist during a protest over asylum seekers being housed at a Norwich hotel.

Stephen Coleman, who's 53, admitted pushing a reporter at the Brook Hotel demonstration in August.

A judge acknowledged his military service and PTSD treatment but fined him £200 and ordered £50 compensation, saying the assault prevented the journalist from doing his job.

Policing the protest has cost around £56,000 each time.
