Residents on Prince Andrew's Road in Hellesdon are asking officials to consider renaming the street amid concerns over links to the disgraced former royal.
But councillors said the road was actually named decades earlier after Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, Prince Philip's father.
Any change would need agreement from every resident and could prove costly.
