Breckland Council is set to write off more than £450,000 owned by a property company it owns.
The council will vote next week on cancelling the debt linked to Breckland Bridge, which has faced losses and delays on a housing project.
The council says clearing the debt would help the company move to a new business model ahead of local government reorganisation.
