Norwich has welcomed new free men and free women in one of the city's oldest civic traditions.
Some can trace their family ties back by more than 700 years, with one new free man travelling from New Zealand for the ceremony.
The honour dates back to medieval times and is still awarded through birthright or apprenticeship.
